podcasting
Podcasts can be downloaded for the children to listen to in the classroom, but more importantly they ca be used as a vehicle for children's own ideas which can be transmitted as a school podcast. Ideas include interviews, news reports, stories and recounts.
An article by The Guardian 'Why Every School Should be Podcasting' has made me aware of how pupils' learning can be enhanced through the use of podcasts. Although I have not had much experience of their use in school, I was made aware of the many advantages but I was especially impressed by the idea that parents can also access a school podcast giving the children an audience for their work.
There are 4 stages to creating a podcast:
1. Record an audio clip and store it as a sound file.
2. Convert the sound file into an MP3.
3. Edit the MP3 .
4. Post it on the internet.
This is a skill I would like to develop with the children during my FPP.
