In today's teaching world, technology is an ever growing tool that is vital in assisting children's learning. However, it also comes hand in hand with understanding the dangers of the virtual world. For teachers
This campaign has the name MRS - Monitor, Report, Save!
1. You should monitor children's activity on the technologies they use: computers, laptops, iPads, iPhones, gaming consoles.
2. You should teach children to tell someone - parent, carers or an adult in school if anything has made them feel uncomfortable online.
3. And to save - anything that is saved can be used as evidence to try and sort out the problem.
For children
'The Click Clever, Click Safe Code'
This code informs children that they should zip it, block it, flag it.
Zip it - You should keep all personal information private while your online.
Block it - You should think about blocking anyone who sends nasty messages.
Flag it - If you see anything that upsets you online you should tell someone you trust.
Online there are various clips that are a brilliant resource to show how ICT can be done safely in primary schools.
They all present internet safety at a level where primary school children can access and understand it. They often present the idea that not everyone can be trusted who is online, so we need to be careful about what we put online and who we speak to.
